Boycott iTunes
I’m sick and tired of getting ripped off by iTunes. The whole “every song is 99 cents” thing has always bothered me (why should a 30-second intro song cost the same as 15-minute masterpiece?!) Also, the DRM is a killer (when I purchase an audio file, why doesn’t it work on ALL my players?!) But now, I’m finding that their selection is somewhat limited. When I couldn’t find James Iha‘s solo album, I decided I had finally had enough.
So I’m back to good old CD’s. I’ve found that I can get used CD’s for about $7.50 on Amazon. Also, there’s a store called f.y.e. at Coral Ridge Mall which has used CD’s for $9.99, and they have a “buy 3, get one free” deal, so that works out to around $7.50 per album as well.
CD’s are good because they include the full-color album art. The sound quality is much higher than anything I can get from iTunes. Plus most of them are DRM-free, meaning I can use whatever player I want.
Sure, online music stores are the way of the future… but sometimes the old-fashioned way works better.

I, too, prefer buying a CD to purchasing from iTunes.
With a CD, when my computer crashes, I don’t have to be concerned about losing my music investment. I still have the CD.
Also, I can load it onto my iPod, and my wife can listen to it in the car without needing any extra technology.
