Meat Eaters Anonymous
Well, my pursuit of veganism is not going too well. I just like meat way too much and I can’t seem to kick my carnivorous habits. I feel terrible.
It’s not that I think there’s anything morally wrong with eating meat (after all, God has expressly stated in His Word that eating meat is perfectly acceptable). I just am slightly repulsed by the idea of devouring the remains of what used to be a cute little animal (and I am somewhat disturbed that I find this type of meal so tasty).
The other difficulty that I’m having with regards to becoming a vegan is that any type of vegetarian lifestyle tends to make social interaction a bit more tricky (and I already have enough difficulty in that area). For example, if everyone else is going out for some barbecue, then it’s no fun having to say “I’m a vegan… I can’t go” or having to sit there and watch everyone else eat.
Also, there are many fashionable clothing items that are made from animal products (e.g. leather), and it pains me to think of giving those up!
Sigh… well, maybe my current incompatibility with veganism is okay, because a vegetarian diet would probably be very unhealthy for me. I would probably die of starvation if vegetables were the only thing I was allowed to eat. ![]()
