Timbuk2

Timbuk2 Messenger BagToday I tried out my new Timbuk2 messenger bag at school. It’s a great replacement for my backpack! It has plenty of space for textbooks, laptop, etc. It’s very comfortable. Best of all, it’s super stylish!

I custom-designed my bag on Timbuk2′s website (see the picture) using a size medium bag and the Cordura fabric (I like the Cordura better than the ballistic nylon, because Cordura is less “shiny”). I added a grab strap (a very useful little strap above the center panel). For the reflector option, I chose the reflector tails because they are removable (I don’t like reflective things on my person, because I don’t really want to be highly visible most of the time). For the interior of the bag, I chose a light blue.

I added a medium laptop sleeve, which would work quite nicely if I had a standard sized laptop. My laptop is a 17″ HP Pavilion, and it doesn’t fit in the sleeve. However, it can fit it into the main compartment of the bag, so that works for me!

I’m pretty impressed with Timbuk2 and their products. For more information about other types of bags and/or other available customization options, read my friend Bethany’s blog entries on that topic.

Very cool! What did you customize on it?

I was able to choose colors, fabric type, and various “extra” options (like the grab strap, etc.). So yeah… “custom” bags aren’t really that much different than the regular ones.
