Cluelessness
Lately, I’ve been reading through the gospel of Matthew. Jesus’ conversation with his Disciples in Matthew 16:5-12 never ceases to make me chuckle. Those Disciples… they were just so dumb sometimes!
But then my smile starts to fade as I realize that I’m the exact same way. It takes me way too long […]

Vans Mesa
My friend Bethany has written some excellent articles about clothing recently on her blog. Being sort of a clothing aficionado myself, I have decided to follow suit.
As you may know, I am a hopeless shoe addict. I will not tell you how many pairs of shoes I have in total (it’s rather embarrassing), […]

Pale Is The New Tan
Today as I was walking through the mall in Iowa City, I passed a type of shop known as a tanning salon. Apparently, this is a place were people (typically female) go to get bombarded with harmful UV rays in order to achieve an unnaturally tan skin tone.
There were about 15 or more girls […]

Larry Norman
I just learned some terribly sad news. Christian rock ‘n roll pioneer Larry Norman passed away yesterday at the age of 60.
Larry was incredibly influential in the revival-like Jesus Movement of the 1970’s. He was a wonderful person, and he was serious about his faith.
He will certainly be missed.

What do you get when you combine the TV show Happy Days with a rockin’ song by Weezer? Pure awesomeness, of course. Check it out…

“Funny” Coupon
Is it just me, or is the “humor” in food-product advertisements getting more and more lame with each passing year?
It seems like major food companies have no clue how to be funny.
To see an example of what I’m talking about, check out the Domino’s Pizza ad to the left (click on the image to enlarge). […]

Read Books
A while ago, I checked out Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park from the Cedar Rapids Public Library (which is one of my favorite places). As I handed the books to the librarian, she smiled and said, “I bet this is for a class project, right?” When I told her no, to the […]

Circuit Test, Part II
A freak accident occurred at Acme Engineering Co. when five newly-hired engineers and a whimsical creature were shocked by electricity on the job.
The engineers attempted to analyze a mysterious box-like electrical device without knowing that the box was actually home to former television sensation Barney the Dinosaur.
Investigators determined that the cause of the accident was […]

Circuit Test
Imagine that you have been hired by Acme Engineering Co., and your job is to analyze an unknown electrical device. “But… but I have no knowledge of electronics!” you tell them. Well, no big deal… Acme thinks you’re qualified. Plus, the salary is immense! So why not give it a try?!?
The […]

Amazing Grace
Tonight I watched the film Amazing Grace (2006), which is the story of 18th Century English politician William Wilberforce.
This movie is very nicely done, and it is very enlightening and moving. I had no idea just how influential William Wilberforce was! He played a crucial role in ending the slave trade in Great […]
