High School Musical 2
I have been a long-time fan of Disney’s original High School Musical film. Sure, it may have a lame storyline, but the choreography is absolutely amazing, and the characters are very interesting and entertaining.
Well, I just watched High School Musical 2, and it’s an equally fun movie. However, the “happy” ending of the story made me very sad and annoyed (spoiler warning!!! If you have not seen the movie, watch it before reading the rest of this blog entry!!)
I was thrilled when Gabriella “broke up” with Troy (I dislike that Troy… at best, he’s a dumb jock, and at worst, he’s a total jerk) and began spending more time with Ryan. Ryan is such a great guy! Sure, he’s a bit eccentric, but he has a good heart. Ryan and Gabriella would be so good together!
But Troy and Gabriella quickly get back together, and Ryan is just left all alone.
That’s just not right.
Is anybody else outraged by this?

Oh, BTW, I don’t think Gabriella is the right girl for Ryan. Maybe the piano girl……

Haha, yeah you’re probably right, Bethany. The fact that Gabriella ever got together with with Troy in the first place shows that she has problems.

Wait a minute, when have I ever poked fun at others’ choices of entertainment?!?
Oh, and I certainly do have a strict set of requirements for what I like. Here is the list of rules that govern whether something is worth liking…
1. It must be awesome.

Oh no! I was going to make a post on High School Musical 2… but it would have been a long, boring/tedious rant on how materialism and other American “ideals” are replacing everything of true value. Thanks for stopping me, Jedidiah!
Ryan was about the only person I liked in the movie — and the butler guy. You’re right. The ending was totally sickening.

Haha… Josiah, I’m helping you say “no” to tedious, boring rants (not that there’s anything wrong with those, of course)!
Yeah, the butler guy is cool.
Also, Bethany, you’re right… the piano-playing girl is a nice person. She’s probably more deserving of Ryan than Gabriella is/was. Hey, maybe this is actually good that it turned out this way, because in HSM3, they can get together!!!

OH MY GOODNESS… what have I done?!?
I’m looking at my screen in horror and realizing that I have just written a post about juvenile dating drama.
This is a day that will live in infamy (henceforth to be known as The Day That Jed’s Credibility Died… Again). I have a feeling I’m never gonna be able to live this down.
Ok, people… here’s the deal. It wasn’t really my fault. I plead temporary insanity.

Haha, yeah… how did you manage to do that, Matt? WordPress doesn’t typically allow people to post repeat comments!

To be honest, I didn’t even realize Gabriella was breaking up with Troy when she was singing that song. I thought, “Wow, they’re making a big deal about her quitting her summer job and going back home!”
Also to be honest, I haven’t seen HSM2 through all the way, and I’ve never seen HSM1. And I don’t really want to.
I can’t believe, Jed, that you so willingly assert yourself as a HSM fan! From what I’ve seen of your poking fun at everyone else’s ‘shallow fandoms’ ( I just made that word up), I thought you would have some set of strict criteria for what you allowed yourself to be a fan of. Oh, well, you can like what you like. I personally do not like HSM. Though Ryan and the piano girl are likeable.
