Awana Grand Prix
As you may know, I help out with an Awana club at my church. Yesterday was the Awana Grand Prix event, in which the kids get to race small wooden cars of their own design.
It was really fun, and all of the kids did an excellent job of designing, building, and/or painting their cars (click on the picture to see some of them). My sister Micah’s car (built with the assistance of Dad and my brother Josiah) looked like a rubber ducky. It was adorable, and she won Second Place for the design category. My friend Tim built an awesome hot rod, complete with fenders and everything (it is the gold-colored one with black windows in the picture). He won First Place in both the design and speed categories. There were lots of other really cool/fast cars (the picture does not show all of them, but do not blame me, because I did not take it).
I think that this was the first year that I failed to build an Awana car.
Maybe some time in the future, I can make up for it by making something especially fancy (like maybe something with working headlights and neons)!!
