Record Collector
I discovered an incredible store in downtown Iowa City called Record Collector, Inc. They have an enormous selection of used and new CDs and vinyl records. The best part is that they specialize in independent music, so they have all of my favorite artists that nobody has heard of!!! Nice!!
Here are my findings for today…
- Widow City by The Fiery Furnaces
- Wincing the Night Away by The Shins
- The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death by John Fahey
- A live album by Stuart Davis
The store also had a really cool vibe. I will definitely be a regular customer!

I’d like to check it out sometime too.. maybe when you’re done with school!

Oh yeah Josiah, it is super sweet. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any Kottke material when I was there. But hopefully they get “new” stuff fairly often.
Matt, that sounds fun. I must warn you, though… they’re probably not gonna have your favorite classical or soundtrack music!!!

Sounds pretty sweet. We ought to go there and see whether they have any Leo Kottke music. Btw, I just can’t get over that Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots album you left on top of the stereo. It’s, like, a divergent sum of awesomeness.
