Work

One benefit of being an engineering student is that it’s relatively easy to find employment! Sometimes employment even comes looking for me! Today I had to run to school for a few minutes to drop off some graded papers, and as I was walking down the hallway, a professor stopped me and said “Just the person I wanted to see!” Turns out, he wants me to work for him for the summer (flexible hours, salary negotiable!) designing a PIC bootloader. Nice!

Also, a friend from Cedar Rapids wants me to provide some tutoring for her daughter in preparation for the math portion of the ACT test! That should be fun as well.

My aunt (who is a scientist at a genetics research laboratory) wants to hire me to design a multi-channel digital thermometer to help automate certain aspects of temperature monitoring that she is required to do.

Also, I think (just for fun), I’m going to enter Microchip’s PIC32 Design Challenge and compete for some prize money!

So these should hopefully give me a reasonable income for the summer. I’m thankful that God has provided me with so many interesting (and even downright entertaining) job opportunities. I feel really blessed (and undeserving), and I hope I can use my income to glorify God.
