Walk
I went walking on the Boyson Park trail yesterday evening, and it was amazing. It was just starting to get dark, and ominous thunderclouds filled the sky, but everything was very quiet and peaceful. A layer of fog floated above the stream. I wished I had brought my “real” camera, but alas, my low-resolution phone camera had to suffice.
I encountered an army of power (or perhaps telephone) lines marching their way through the forest, and I asked myself… is that how I am? Do I destroy the beauty around me in my attempt to accomplish things and get to my desired destination? Or perhaps I am more like the tall dead tree that I found… intriguing to look at, and a fitting addition to the scenery, but completely useless.
I tried to block out my self-centered musings for a while and just enjoy God’s creation. I saw an owl, some bats, a rabbit, and a frog. I listened to the stream. I heard the crickets chirping. For a moment, I wished I could just become a part of nature itself. I wanted to run through the woods and just live in the outdoors forever.
