A Liturgy

The latest addition to my music collection is A Liturgy, a Legacy, and a Ragamuffin Band by Rich Mullins. All I can say is… wow. It is absolutely beautiful. Actually, it brought back good memories of when I lived in Idaho when I was younger. I used to hear Rich on the radio all the [...]

Record Collector

I discovered an incredible store in downtown Iowa City called Record Collector, Inc. They have an enormous selection of used and new CDs and vinyl records. The best part is that they specialize in independent music, so they have all of my favorite artists that nobody has heard of!!! Nice!! Here are my findings for [...]

Imagine

This is by special request.

The Fiery Furnaces

Here’s an excellent live performance by The Fiery Furnaces! Check out the keyboard(s)!!

Sixteen Military Wives

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the political sentiment expressed in this song, I think that you will enjoy the music video by The Decemberists. It is pretty funny (in my opinion), and Colin Meloy (the lead singer) does a great job of acting.

Hoppipolla

I recently discovered the ethereal sounds of Icelandic band Sigur Rós. Check out this live performance of their song “Hoppípolla” (translated “Hopping Into Puddles,” or something like that). I think you will like it.

Skillet

Tonight I attended the Skillet (and Thousand Foot Krutch) concert at the Paramount Theatre in CR with my brother and sister. We had second-row seats in the orchestra pit section (about 5 feet from the stage). Our friend Rachel was also there and she had a seat right in front of us. I’m not really [...]

Carrie Underwood

I just got back from the Carrie Underwood concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Some girls from school and I decided that it would be awesome to go see her in concert, since we are huge fans of American Idol (for those of you who don’t know, Carrie was the 4th season winner) and pop/country music [...]

Andrew Peterson

Tonight I attended the Andrew Peterson concert at Cedar Valley Bible Church. I don’t even know how to describe how amazing it was. I had never heard of Mr. Peterson until just recently, and I decided to go to this show on a whim (a friend of mine highly recommended his music). I’m so glad [...]

Tommy

Tonight I attended a production of The Who’s rock musical Tommy at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City, performed by the Catalyst Acting Company (of Iowa City). There were two slight problems with the show, the main one being sound issues (it was often difficult to hear the singing/speaking over the drums and other instrumentation, [...]
